Waste Management reforms to hold industry to account

Posted by antonellaceli on October 8, 2020 at 9:50 AM

My support to advance on waste management reforms to hold the industry to account and deliver reliable service to the community for household waste pick up and disposal will be consistent.

As a Council delegate to the MWRRG (Metro Waste & Resource Recovery Group) I am keen to promote initiatives that:

• minimise waste going to landfill,

• encourage resource recovery

• implements FOGO food organic household pick up

• promote reuse, recycle repurpose

• provides value for money for ratepayers

Consultation and review is underway for a new Waste Act and Authority model by DELWP to improve the governance and regulation of waste management in Victoria.

Local Government has a big role to play on these reforms and I commit to ongoing advocacy on behalf of the community for optimal waste service provision.
